TRE®:  Trauma & Tension Release Exercises

TRE®  (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) is an effective,  Somatic (body-based) method that helps you release deep-seated patterns of tension associated with stress and trauma.

It works by activating neurogenic tremors: your body's natural ability to gently shake or vibrate. This natural shaking helps to regulate your nervous system, allowing your body to release built-up tension and restore a sense of balance, connection and awareness of Self.

Because it works on a layer beyond the mind, there's no need to verbally process past experiences. Many people find this particularly beneficial, as discussing past traumas can be difficult or even re-traumatizing.

The core aim of TRE® is to empower you with the knowledge and skill to use this self-regulation method whenever you need it.

TRE® can be used together with Counselling or on its own.

Somatic Movement

Somatic movement is a form of mindful exercise that focuses on the internal experience of movement—how your body feels—rather than how it looks from the outside. The term "somatic" comes from the Greek word soma, meaning "the body as perceived from within."

Instead of pushing for bigger stretches or faster repetitions, somatic practices involve slow, gentle, and intentional movements. The goal is to deepen your mind-body connection and re-educate the central nervous system to release habitual muscle tension and pain. This process helps you regain control over muscles that have become chronically tight due to stress, injury, or repetitive posture.

While somatic movement may seem similar to yoga asana, it differs in that it does not involve other more philosophical aspects of yoga (ie: yamas, niyamas).
