Sexual Trauma

My support focuses on helping individuals who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or harassment cope with the emotional, psychological, physical, and social effects. It does not matter how long ago the traumatic event occurred. All trauma is valid, and all survivors—regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, age, or economic situation—deserve freedom from suffering.

Sexual trauma can manifest from a violent act like rape or something more subtle, such as continued harassment or a violation of trust by a family member. It can manifest in profound ways, affecting multiple areas of your life long after the event.

Sexual Functioning

Trauma can create a deep psychological and physiological response that impacts your body's ability to engage in sexual activity. It can lead to a loss of libido, difficulty with arousal or orgasm, or even physical pain during sex, as your body may subconsciously associate touch and intimacy with threat rather than pleasure.

Self-Esteem and Confidence

The experience often leaves a person feeling "dirty," "broken," or unworthy. These feelings can erode your self-esteem and confidence, making it difficult to feel good about yourself, your body, and your desirability as a partner.

Mental Health

Sexual trauma is strongly linked to mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and, C-PTSD.. These are not signs of weakness but rather a result of  your mind and body trying to cope with overwhelming experiences.

Relationships

Trauma can make it incredibly challenging to build and maintain healthy relationships. Survivors may struggle with trust, intimacy, and communication. They might fear being vulnerable, misinterpret a partner's actions, or struggle with physical closeness, all of which can strain or damage relationships.

My approach helps you move from being defined by the trauma to being empowered by your healing journey. I use a psychosomatic approach that combines talk therapy with practical, embodied tools to heal the trauma stored in both your mind and body.

In a safe and supportive space, we can process the emotional and psychological aftermath of the trauma. This helps you articulate your experience, challenge the feelings of shame or guilt, and reframe your narrative from one of brokenness to one of resilience.

Trauma leaves the nervous system in a constant state of "fight, flight, or freeze." Using TRE and other somatic interventions, helps you to regain a sense of safety and control within your body, mind and deeper sense of self.
