Compulsive Sexual Behaviour
Often referred to as hypersexuality or "sexual addiction," compulsive sexual behavior is an intense and uncontrollable focus on sexual fantasies, urges, or activity. The individual often feels driven to engage in these behaviors, experiences a temporary release from tension, but then feels immense guilt, shame, or regret. This is not about the type of sexual activity itself, but rather the compulsive nature of the behavior and its impact on a person's life.

Signs of compulsive sexual behavior can include:
-
Spending excessive time and energy on sexual fantasies and behaviors.
-
Feeling like sexual urges are beyond your control, despite repeated attempts to stop or reduce them.
-
Continuing to engage in these behaviors even when they cause significant problems, such as a loss of important relationships, trouble at work, financial issues, or health risks.
-
Using sexual behavior as a way to cope with other problems like loneliness, stress, or anxiety.

My approach, which integrates talk therapy and somatic interventions, moves beyond an abstinence-based model by helping you understand and manage the underlying psychological and physiological triggers, ultimately fostering a healthier and more integrated relationship with your sexuality.
Through talk therapy, I help you explore the mental and emotional drivers of compulsive sexual behavior. We'll work together to identify and reframe the thoughts and beliefs that fuel the compulsion. This includes identifying psychological and physiological triggers, developing effective coping mechanisms, and address underlying issues.a natural reduction in compulsive behaviors.

Somatic interventions will focus on the body's role in the cycle of compulsion. Many intense emotions and past traumas are stored in the body, which can drive the compulsive cycle. Somatic techniques help you regulate your nervous system and become more aware of your body's signals.
